Addendum
The god of the bible got upset when people built a tower to reach heaven, but has no problem with space exploration.
One of the reasons that we know the biblical flood never took place is that there were civilisations on earth at the purported time that continued to exist and made no mention of being wiped out in a great flood. (Including Chinese, Egyptian and South American). There is plenty of other evidence that the great flood did not happen and none that it did (only in the minds of believers)
Belief is a conscious closing of one’s mind to evidence and reason. The ones with an open mind are those who can change their mind based on new information or understanding.
If you believe the parts of your holy books that you like, and not the parts that you don’t like, then it isn’t that religion that you follow, but your own religion. In this way there are actually even more Gods, as people who think they believe in the same God actually believe in different imaginary Gods.
Hope to add appalling and erroneous quotes from other religious books in the future.
There are other imaginary belief systems/religions which do not entail a god or gods as such, but are just as imaginary as the ones that do involve gods. Eg Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism, Zodiac, Chinese zodiac, Wicca/Witchcraft……
